Saturday mornings at the college

The Kalispell Farmers Market meets Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Flathead Valley Community College, 777 Grandview Drive. Its 2026 calendar has a spring season from May 2 through July 18 and a fall season from July 25 through October 17. The organizer adds an indoor Harvest Holiday Market on October 17, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Flathead County Fairgrounds, 265 North Meridian Road. Questions go to 406-260-5102.

Vendors change through the season. Ask a grower what is ready now, whether they take advance orders and how to reach them after the market closes for the year. The market pages checked for this guide do not state which payment types or benefit programs vendors accept, so ask at the booth.

Market coupons for older adults

For the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program in Flathead County, Farm Connect Montana lists Land to Hand in Whitefish at 406-616-2017 as the sign-up agency, with coupons accepted at the Whitefish Farmers Market. Eligible seniors receive $48 in coupons valid June 1 through October 31; applications open around June 1, so late in the season ask whether any remain.

Free groceries at the Gateway Community Center

The Flathead Food Bank is at 1203 US Highway 2 West, Suite 2, at the south end of the Gateway Community Center near Meridian Road and West Idaho Street. Distribution hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., and Wednesday, 1 to 5:45 p.m. It closes on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The food bank says visits are confidential and always free. Bring proof of income and current identification for each household member; it accepts medical cards, Social Security cards, birth certificates or school IDs for children under 18. A short, confidential interview determines eligibility. If travel is hard, ask about the mobile pantry that rotates weekly through Martin City, Kila and Marion.

The same organization is the DPHHS-listed eligibility office for the Commodity Supplemental Food Program in Flathead County, a monthly food box for people 60 and older within 150 percent of the federal poverty level. SNAP applications and Extension

SNAP applications can be made online at apply.mt.gov, through the Public Assistance Helpline at 1-888-706-1535, or in person at the Kalispell Field Office of Public Assistance at 121 Financial Drive, Suite D, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Flathead County Extension Office at 1108 South Main Street, Suite 4, 406-758-5553, lists 4-H and youth development, agriculture and horticulture, and SNAP nutrition education among its programs.
