Saturday mornings on Fuller Avenue

The Helena Farmers Market runs Saturdays, April 25 through October 31, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fuller Avenue, stretching two blocks downtown. The market says more than 350 Montana vendors rotate through the season, so a grower you met in June may not be there in September. Ask what is ready now and how to find them again.

The same organizer runs a Tuesday market at Main Street Park in East Helena from 3 to 6 p.m., July through September 2026. Confirm the final Tuesday of the season with the market before a special trip. Questions go to 406-437-1855.

Cash, credit, debit and SNAP/EBT are all accepted. The market’s EBT booth swaps card payments for tokens; the market says SNAP tokens may only be used for fresh fruits and vegetables and that vendors cannot give cash change on EBT or SNAP tokens.

Market coupons for older adults

Helena Food Share is the Lewis and Clark County sign-up agency for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, reached at 406-443-3663 extension 113. Farm Connect Montana lists the Helena, Capitol Square and East Helena farmers markets as places the coupons are accepted. Eligible seniors receive $48 in coupons valid June 1 through October 31; applications open around June 1, so late in the season ask whether any remain.

Shopping the Grocery Share Market

Helena Food Share’s Grocery Share Market is at 1280 Boulder Avenue. Shopping hours are Monday and Thursday, 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Arrive at least 15 minutes before closing. The market closes on the holidays listed by Helena Food Share. Call 406-443-3663 with questions before travelling.

If you live outside town, a mobile service stops at 50 Prickly Pear Avenue in East Helena on Mondays from 2 to 3 p.m., excluding holidays, and in Lincoln every second and fourth Tuesday at 2 p.m. at 2363 MT-200 (Pure View Health) or 403 Main Street (VA). Helena Food Share also says senior commodities are available every other month for people 60 and older at the Boulder Avenue market, and that Kid Packs reach families through school principals and counselors in Helena, East Helena, Boulder, Basin, Canyon Creek and Lincoln.

Monthly commodity boxes and SNAP applications

For the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, DPHHS lists Rocky Mountain Development Council at 201 South Last Chance Gulch as the eligibility office for Broadwater, Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, Powell and Meagher counties; call 406-457-7302 about the application. The program is for people 60 and older within 150 percent of the federal poverty level.

SNAP applications can be made online at apply.mt.gov, through the Public Assistance Helpline at 1-888-706-1535, or in person at the Helena Field Office of Public Assistance at 2021 North Montana Avenue, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
