A Bedford Street market visit can connect you with Bitterroot growers and food makers. Nearby Haven House offers distinct weekly and monthly food-support options, plus a specific way to share locally raised meat.

A Saturday shopping route through town

The Hamilton Farmers Market brings growers, food producers and craftspeople to Bedford Street between Second and Third. Its 2026 season runs Saturdays from May 2 through October 31, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fresh produce, local meat and eggs, baked goods, prepared food and breakfast are among the offerings.

Use that mix to plan a meal and meet the people behind it. Ask which vegetables were harvested recently, how a meat order is packed, or whether a baker takes advance orders. If you need enough for a gathering, agree on quantity and pickup with the seller before counting on what will be at the stall. A market purchase does not establish a delivery service or a standing supply arrangement.

The market specifically distinguishes Bitter Root Day and Apple Day from its own events. Check the organizer’s current notice around those dates instead of assuming every downtown celebration has the same vendors, hours or shopping arrangements.

Two ways to use Haven House

Haven House Food Bank, at 316 North Third Street, distinguishes weekly donated-food visits from monthly grocery boxes. The weekly waiting-room food visit does not require registration. A monthly box does, and its size and contents depend on household size and available supplies.

Posted hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with an additional Wednesday evening opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Check current notices, especially around holidays, and ask which option fits what you need.

Haven House also describes a local connection between the Ravalli County Fair and household food: buyers of 4-H animals can arrange to donate meat they do not need, with processing handled through its named program. Contact Haven House before arranging a donation. This is a specific way to share locally raised food; it does not mean unarranged meat donations can be accepted at the door.
